Taking care of the beauty of our area is the priority of all citizens of Chelan and Douglas Counties. Our area ranges from the Columbia River basin to shrub-steppe to dryland forest to apline forests and more.
Commercial farmers, ranchers and orchardists are also a critical component of environmental conservation, preservation and sustainability. The educational programs offered help them remain viable and profitable, while doing thier work in the most environmentally safe manner possible.
We have two major initiatives in Natural Resources education:
(a) Forest Stewardship for
(b) The Colockum Natural Resource Center for
Both of these strive to help citizens and students to understand and manage our ecology and what they can do to help preserve and sustain it for the future.
Washington State University also offers a variety of resources on this subject. See below for a listing of some documents and websites that will be helpful.
