Trip Information:
This is an all inclusive journey that travels through some of the best whitewater in the Northwest. We have partnered with Orion Expeditions to help provide an amazing, adventurous whitewater trip! We will travel 40-50 miles down the Deschutes River in Central Oregon, through class 3 whitewater, just as the first explorers did. We will camp along the river each evening where participants will help with camp set-up and cooking dinner. Participants will learn river reading and boat captaining skills, have opportunities to explore the rugged high desert environment, and share stories around the campfire at night.
Transportation along with all meals, rafting and camping equipment, and wetsuits are provided at no charge. You will be notified of a transportation pickup point to join us as we begin our journey with exact times and meeting locations to follow. We will travel to Mecca, Oregon on Day #1 where we will get to know one another, meet our trip guides and instructors and set camp for the evening. We will put our rafts into the river the following morning and be on the river until either Friday or Saturday getting off the river at Sandy Beach just outside the town of Maupin. After cleaning and stowing our equipment one last time, saying goodbyes and packing the vans we will all return home with memories and stories to share.
You and your parent/guardian will need to complete “ALL” the paperwork included in our online registration process which are available on the Camps main page. Signed "original" forms must be mailed to Kevin Powers at the address on the form (also located on the Contact document on the main page) at least one week prior to the trip start date. This trip is one of our most popular adventures and is offered on a first-come first served basis so get your registration in as soon as possible to insure your slot on this incredible adventure.
“NOTE: We will need to have an original signed copy for each participant in our possession in order for you to get into the van and'or join us on this adventure.”
NOTE: All 4-H programs and activities are Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Free events. Failure to comply may result in termination of event or removal of the individual from the activity and notification of parents and appropriate authorities.
