"On the Road to Living Well with Diabetes"
A Free Community Education Class Series for Better Health
WSU Extension Diabetes Education offers a five-class series to promote healthy eating and being active as a way to help people manage their diabetes. Classes provide information about diabetes and the 5 tests to monitor diabetes care, and seek to empower individuals to become involved in their own care.
This class series does not replace health care provider information, but will compliment that information. Individuals with diabetes and those who care for family members with diabetes are encouraged to attend.
Class topics include:
• learning about the disease-diabetes
• eating well
• being active
• portion size
• reading food labels
|
Participants receive:
• an A1c test and blood pressure reading
• take-home workbooks that help monitor diabetes health activity
• an exercise DVD
• a pedometer
• exercise bands
|
The purpose of this class is to help participants make the necessary lifestyle changes that come along with having diabetes. Healthy lifestyle changes can be good for everyone in the family, not just someone with diabetes.
Please call the Grant-Adams Area Extension office to set up a diabetes awareness education class in your community.
