Washington State University Island County Extension connects the people of Island County to the research and knowledge bases of provide educational programs and leverage the broad resources of a major university to resolve issues and create a positive future for the residents of Island County. In addition, Washington State University provides over 2,200 publications, numerous online educational opportunities, and other statewide educational programs and technical assistance from four Research and Extension Centers, 15 Academic Departments and six of WSU's Academic Colleges.

Looking for a volunteer opportunity?
Master Gardener volunteers build and maintain educational gardens, plan and staff public gardening events, staff horticulture hotlines, conduct plant clinics where they diagnose plant problems for the public and offer research-based, objective solutions that minimize hazards to humans and to the environment. Applications are now being accepted for training to become an Island County Master Gardener. Training begins in February of 2014.
