ADMIRALTY HEAD LIGHTHOUSE

TOURS

Our volunteers present the lighthouse to the public whenever the building is open.  As part of our educational purpose, we also conduct specialized tours for visiting groups.  With as little as a week notice, our docents can provide your group with a comprehensive lesson in history, free of charge.

Tours at the lighthouse typically last about an hour.  Tours of both the lighthouse and the fort are usually divided into forty minute segments.  The combination of both locations is particularly convenient for groups too large to fit comfortably in the lighthouse.  If your group is larger than twenty people, we recommend spitting the tour into two or more groups between locations.

As is the case with anything of historical interest, we discuss much more than an historical building:  among them - maritime history, military history, geography, local history, the Victorian era, and the transition towards a technological age.  Most of the docents who conduct our tours are career educators who can adapt to any age or lesson plan, and who are enthusiastic about the values of teaching history.

If you or your students would like to arrange for a special tour, please email or call us.  Be prepared for difficult weather conditions, no matter what time of year you plan on visiting.  We have a gift shop, but food is not served anywhere on the premises.  While our tours are free, we also encourage donations to support our programs.

To arrange a tour call (360) 240-5584.
