Periodically Washington State University Mason County Extension will have job openings in various programs. Please see list below of job openings.
In anticipation of approval of two AmeriCorps positions, the following will be offered in the summer of 2012 with start date in September 2012.
AmeriCorps Position, Gardening - Mason County WSU Extension brings scientifically based knowledge to community members. The Master Gardener program grows food at Catalyst Park for the local food bank and also teaches community gardeners sustainable gardening practices. The Food $ense nutrition program teaches youth in a classroom how important healthy eating and physical activity is. 4-H afterschool program provides a safe learning environment for elementary students two days per week with an emphasis on reduction of obesity rates and increase in physical activity.
AmeriCorps Position, 4-H Program - The 4-H after school program teaches participants about environmental science, healthy eating and physical activity, and provides tutoring for students in need. A healthy snack is prepared for students to enjoy and fun activities and games make this after school program an exciting place to be. The 4-H forestry program works with teens during the summer to build leadership skills by working in local parks and on forest land. Participants learn about sustainable forestry practices and earn a stipend for their work during this five week program. Trail building and team building are included in the summer program.
